Stronger together – Nordic marine science in the Ocean Decade
In 2026, the Norwegian Society of Marine Scientists (Norsk havforskerforening) will collaborate with our sister organization in Sweden (Swedish Society For Marine Sciences, www.shf.se), and marine colleagues in Finland, in the implementation of a larger joint marine meeting: the “Nordic Marine Science Meeting”.
We welcome everyone who is engaged in and interested in marine science, management and environmental monitoring to this conference about the OCEAN! The meeting will cover a wide range of marine research topics, management and environmental monitoring in marine systems.
In addition to oral presentations and poster presentations, there will be room for networking and establishing new contacts!

REGISTRATION AND CONFERENCE FEE
Registration for the conference is coordinated by Akademikonferens, and you can register for the conference via this link:

The conference fee for members of NHF is SEK 3125 (including VAT).
The conference fee includes access to presentations and posters at the conference, participation in the “icebreaker” event (Tuesday), as well as snacks and lunch on Wednesday and Thursday. The conference fee does not include travel and accommodation. Registration for the conference dinner also falls outside the conference fee. (See point below).
Deadline for registration to the conference is 15. october 2026.

CONFERENCE DINNER:
The conference dinner will take place on 25 November. We are working to find a cost alternative so that all conference participants can attend the dinner. The cost and venue of the dinner will be announced in late summer/fall, and the dinner registration will occur separately from the conference registration.
SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACT
We welcome abstracts for oral presentations or posters. Submissions are handled through the abstract portal:

NB: The deadline for submission of the Abstract is 15 September (2026).
Submitted contributions will be organized into sessions based on the conference program or be included in an open session if the content is considered outside the scope of the sessions provided. Depending on the number of abstracts submitted (oral and posters), conference organizers may need to prioritize. Submissions from Master’s and PhD students, as well as from early-career researchers (e.g. postdocs), will be given priority.
General guidelines:
Abstract: 2000 characters including spaces
Presentation: 12 min + 3 min for Q&A, for invited speakers: 25 min + 5 min.
Poster: Size A0 (841 x 1189 mm)
THE ANNUAL MEETING OF NORSK HAVFORSKERFORENING
NHF will hold its annual meeting in connection with the conference. We will be allocated a separate room and will hold the annual meeting on the afternoon of 25. November. (Details of the room and time will come closer to the meeting).
